Joe Stump

1. Who were your first musical main influences when growing up?
When I was a kid back in the 1970's it was a great time for guitar , I loved Ritchie Blackmore and Deep Purple , Michael Schenker with UFO, Hendrix of course . Also other 70's icons like  Robin Trower, Frank Marino , Rory Galllager and Tommy Bolin (his solo stuff and his great work on Billy Cobham's Spectrum record) . Then right before going to Berklee College of music I discovered Al Dimeola and was obsessed with his Elegant Gypsy and Casino records.

2. Who were your first musical main influences later when you got serious about playing the guitar?
After playing some jazz, fusion and classical while I was at Berklee I decided to go back to playing hard rock and metal exclusively , my top guys were and always have been Ritchie Blackmore (everything both Purple and Rainbow) Gary Moore (I love everything he's ever done but especially his hard rock/metal era) , Michael Schenker - the early MSG stuff was great and his playing was a great mix of his bluesier UFO period but mixed with more classically influenced European shred  and Uli Jon Roth and all those early Scorpions records - just amazing - he'd play some Hendrix induced stuff and then mix in some diminished and Spanish Phrygian action.  Now this was all pre Yngwie  (like I say it's like BC vs AD in biblical terms)  After reading about him in Mike Varney's spotlight column  then hearing Yngwie on the early Steeler and Alcatrazz records , was instantly obsessed as he had the guitar influences of Blackmore , Hendrix and Uli Roth combined with Dimeola's fierce pick hand and the darker heavy Baroque and Romantic classical musical influence (I also love classical music ) .  I still  continue listen to all of these guys and still find them inspiring and whenever they're around touring (except Gary of course RIP) I always  make a point of going to several shows if my touring schedule permits .

5. What recorded (and officially released) track or video do you consider to be your finest moment as a guitar player?
My newest record  Diabolical Ferocity  and really my last 3 solo records (Symphonic Onslaught , The Dark Lord Rises  also)  as well as the last Alcatrazz record V contain my best work to date . Some standout tracks of mine are Burn it Down , The Snake Charmer's Fate , On With The Action, The Bullet Train express, Out For Blood ,King Of The Underworld  and I just did a killer play along for Sneak Attack from the last record and also  there's a cool video that came out last month for the track Target from the last Alcatrazz record

Alessio Berlaffa

1. Who were your first musical main influences when growing up?
I use to listen to music from my father’s vinyl small collection and remember listening to The Beatles and Led Zeppelin, besides some good folk Italian music.
Then I have discovered new music from older guys in my hometown such as AC/DC, some Metallica and...
Van Halen: wow, this truly makes me wanna pick up a guitar and can’t understand at the time people listening to Nirvana, even if I had listened all the songs, if you know what I mean.

2. Who were your first musical main influences later when you got serious about playing the guitar?
Van Halen surely was a lightning and a thunderous drill into my head, but the music I’ve based my early years with bands was 70s rock,

like Deep Purple, Yes, Whitesnake and all the blues based music from UK

3. Name your five top albums of all time (not necessary guitar music)
-Every Van Halen Album, but to pick one it would be 1984 (Fair Warning was too obvious)

-Blue Murder – Self Titled

3. Name your five top albums of all time (not necessary guitar music)
Pink Floyd/Dark Side of the Moon
Glenn Gould/Goldberg Variations
Allan Holdsworth/IOU
Led Zeppelin/Physical Graffiti
Franz Biber/The Rosary Sonatas played by Susanne Lautenbacher

4. Name your top five guitar albums of all time
Steve Vai – Passion and Warfare
Yngwie Malmsteen – Marching Out
Andy Timmons – Ear X-Tacy
Racer X – Street Lethal
Richie Kotzen – Electric Joy

5. What recorded (and officially released) track or video do you consider to be your finest moment as a guitar player?
I think from my solo album Electric Mist, beside the title track itself, I think “Elements” is an interesting mix of melody, harmony and technique dipped in an 80s LA fashioned mood

6. What are your future plans?
I’m a little blue talking about this, because pandemic took off me a big chunk of energies. Still thinking I can make another solo album and re-starting playing live. I’ll be happy to perform with a tribute band where I can play all my 80s influenced music and why not, trying to reunite few guitar players from my area and promote a sort of guitar fest…that would be cool!

Beppe Geracitano
(The Rock Alchemist,
B Gera)
1. Who were your first musical main influences when growing up?
Let's say that I grew up where there was still a great passion for music, but for what was transmitted by the mainstream and not where rock or classical music was listened to.
I had some distant relative who played popular music.
it is also true that in the 70s and 80s mainstream music was much more complex and had a lot more passion inside than it is nowI already had more rock preferences,
but at 14, at school, a friend gave me a tape of Queen. I think that was when my real journey into the world of music began

2. Who were your first musical main influences later when you got serious about playing the guitar?
Over time I made a tape of many Brian May guitar solos, one attached to the other. Listening to them I went with my mind to another dimension, and I realized that I wanted to play the guitar.
At 17, a friend lent me a classical guitar for a couple of months, of course I return it. My parents bought me my first classical guitar, to start a very cheap model.
I was learning self-taught. Then I discovered Satriani, Vai, Hendrix and I tried to play them with that guitar but it was practically impossible.
I worked in the summer while on vacation from school and at 18 I bought my first electric guitar, a "Shadow". I enjoyed being with friends who played,
I was comfortable with them, we had the same interests and there was a lot of information exchange

3. Name your five top albums of all time (not necessary guitar music)

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
Michael Jackson – Thriller
Savatage – Streets

Jason Becker – Perpetual Burn
Van Halen – F.U.C.K.
Ozzy – No More Tears
Malmsteen – The Seventh Sing

5. What recorded (and officially released) track or video do you consider to be your finest moment as a guitar player?
Maybe on Broken Glass, the closing track of the Eyes Of Mind album with The Rock Alchemis

6. What are your future plans?
I'm working on the production of the Universal Revolution part.2 of my instrumental project B Gera , on a new album with my band The Rock Alchemist,
some cooperation with great and interesting artist with guitar tracks, to mix and produce some album for some band and above all.... play guitar live!!
